LT-40 Type 2 Surge Protector 40kA AC Distribution
Type 2 surge protection devices are used for power distribution boards, which eliminate surge power to the ground and reduce voltage on outgoing devices. Leitai Electric is a company based in China, which has its own manufacturing unit and produce various surge protective devices. The company offers OEM, wholesale and distribution services all over the world.

Applications & circuit protection
Applied in AC distribution boards, incoming panels and electrical rooms, the LT-40 provides 20kA/40kA Type 2 protection. It is popular for installation in the following locations:
- Incoming panels: Protection of high current supply.
- Distribution boards: Type 2 protection at main distribution.
- Industrial installations: Machine and process line protection.
- Data centres: Equipment power protection.

How to Install and Connect Type 2 Surge Protector
The LT-40 SPD is connected parallel to the line that needs protection. The earth cable connects it to the PE terminal. The wires connecting the device should be as short as possible to limit residual voltage. For TN systems connect L, N, and PE according to the connection diagram provided.
- Parallel connection with short wires to the PE terminal
- External disconnector suitable for other applications
- Connecting diagram provided in the product documentation
Wiring Diagram

In the above diagram, you can see how the LT-40 is suggested to be connected to a typical distribution board, the wiring of which is consistent with standard practice where both L, N and PE terminals are clearly marked.
How Does Type 2 Surge Protector Compare to Alternative Protection?
When you’re comparing surge protection devices, pay attention to the following aspects: protection level (Up), discharge capacity (In/Imax or Iimp), as well as a relevant standard. Our specialists would be happy to provide you with the right configuration.
| Feature | This SPD | Alternative |
| Type | Type 2 (T2) SPD | Other SPD types available |
| Discharge capacity | 20kA / 40kA | Matched to network duty |
| Protection level | 1.2kV | Lower Up options available |
| Application | AC Distribution | Other installation types |
